THE OFFICE

THE OFFICE

At first glance, these repetitive black-and-white reproductions captivate with their enigmatic presence. Their origin is revealing: though they resemble photographs, they are, in fact, photocopies. Struggling with PTSD and depression, the artist conceived this series in 2019 within the walls of her Parisian office. Exasperated by the "métro-boulot-dodo" grind, in a gesture of despair, she decided to plunge her face into the photocopier. Fascinated by the result, she began a series of experiments, each scan capturing a different facet of her inner turmoil. The sheets emerging from the machine mirror one another—copies of the same face and the same emotions, just as days at the office are imperfect copies of each other. Over time, this secret ritual of creation became her way of resisting the oppressive uniformity of the workplace and the alienation of urban life. Playing with shadows, hair, stark contrasts, and contorted expressions, she creates visual metaphors for her psychophysical state. By subverting the impersonal technique of photocopying for artistic ends, she transforms a process of mass reproduction into an intimate form of expression. Each A4 sheet becomes a vessel for her cry of despair and her revolt against a stifling routine.
