THE OFFICE

At first glance, these repetitive black-and-white reproductions captivate the viewer with their enigmatic quality. Their origin is revealing: although they look like photographs, they are actually photocopies. The artist, struggling with post-traumatic stress and depression, began this series in 2019 inside her Paris office.

Exasperated by the relentless daily grind, in a gesture of despair, she decided to press her face against the photocopier. The result fascinated her, sparking a series of experiments where each photocopy captured a different facet of her inner turmoil. The sheets emerging from the machine look alike: they are copies of the same face and the same emotions, just as days at the office are imperfect copies of one another.

Over time, this secretly practiced creative ritual became her way of resisting the oppressive uniformity of the corporate world and the alienation of urban society. By playing with shadows, hair, stark contrasts, and contorted facial expressions, she creates visual metaphors of her psychophysical state.

By repurposing the impersonal technique of photocopying for artistic ends, she transforms a mass-reproduction process into an intimate form of expression. Every sheet of A4 paper becomes a vehicle for her cry of despair and her rebellion against a suffocating routine.

Born in 2019 in the heart of a Parisian office, this series emerges from a struggle against depression and an alienating daily routine. Each print is a cry of rebellion against the mundane and a raw metaphor for human fragility.
