  • AZZURRO IS MY FAVORITE COLOR

    2023

Despite their minuscule size, planktonic organisms play a crucial role in marine ecosystems, serving as the foundational elements for the entire marine food web. Phytoplankton contribute to approximately half of the photosynthesis occurring on the planet, making them one of the world’s most important producers of oxygen. Climate change and rising sea temperatures pose serious risks to plankton populations.

Azzurro is my favorite color immerses viewers in the captivating world of plankton. Through blurred and surreal compositions, each image serves as a portal to an enchanting realm where microscopic organisms dance in a symphony of color and form, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy and inviting contemplation and wonder.

The series encourages viewers to appreciate the captivating beauty of plankton while deepening awareness of the urgent need for conservation efforts.

  • ROSSE ROSSE

    2019 - ongoing

Rosse rosse – italian superlative for "very red"– is an invitation to visually delve into the exploration of menstrual blood. Despite blood being a commonly depicted element in our collective visual imagery, its portrayal in relation to the menstrual cycle is often shrouded by a strong sense of modesty and visual unease. In many cultures menstruation is commonly associated with feelings of shame and disgust, and the societal perspective on this blood is greatly influenced by a predominantly male-centric perspective.

By harnessing the physical characteristics of this organic fluid –including its texture, viscosity, shine and vibrant hue– in various real-life and surreal scenarios, the artist aims to subvert and question the negative connotations surrounding it. She invites viewers to experience the sight of menstrual blood with an impartial eye, reshaping their subjective perception by challenging existing biases and assumptions.

The skin-to-skin contact with blood displayed in the pictures –a contact encountered by millions of individuals on a (not so) regular basis– arises as an essential and unsettling action transcending gender and societal norms. Far from pursuing the beauty or power of the menstrual phenomenon, the visual exploration behind Rosse rosse is centered around the textures and color nuances of the fluid itself; these "very red" images evoke the harsh reality of violence and physical pain linked to the inevitable act of bleeding. The series depicts this uncontrollable blood that drips, stains, and permeates fabrics and skin as well as the lives of the bodies from which it flows.

By choosing to use menstrual blood as both a medium and a subject, this material becomes a means of expression —intimate, organic, underrepresented, yet deeply familiar. The vivid red of the images both catches and perplexes the eye generating a sense of curiosity, fascination and unease within the viewer.

  • THE OFFICE

    2020

At first glance, these black-and-white images appear to be photographs, but they are, in fact, photocopies. Created during a period of post-traumatic stress and depression, the artist secretly used the photocopier in her office as an unconventional tool for self-expression.

Each sheet captures a fragmented aspect of her inner turmoil, mirroring the repetitive monotony of office days, imperfect copies of each other. Over time, this secret ritual evolves into her way of resisting the oppressive uniformity of the working world and the alienation of urban society.

Through manipulation of shadows, hair, starkcontrasts, and contorted facial expressions, she crafts visual allegories reflecting her mental and physical discomfort. This series transforms a mundane reproduction process into a deeply personal and creative act of resistance against the alienation of modern work and urban routine.

  • CAMPAGNE, 2021

CAMPAGNE is a disillusioned walk through the decadence of the Neapolitan outskirts.

Running close to the tuff walls and the scorching engines, the resentful voice of the author –intertwined with electronic music and images of the provincial reality– leads through the emotions of her homecoming.

The reflection addresses her native hearth as an unfit mother, in a letter questioning her own sense of belonging.

Subtitles available in: IT, EN, FR, ES.

    MUNDUS, 2018

Mundus is a socio-linguistic documentary that explores the concept of cultural identity through languages and borders.

By stepping into the rooms of 10 young adults from different parts of the world living in post-Brexit England, the film reflects on identity, national culture, mother tongue, and the future of a multicultural Europe.

    47-minute documentary
